“Birdie was always the smart one, sneaking into Eagle’s couches even though it was too small for her to ever fit in, lying on our laps asking for a spoonful of cooked meat, and staring into our eyes every single time she wanted to play with the tennis ball. By age 15, her cheeks would start whiten, though the family loved every way she looked. It was really the moment she laid on the vet’s floor, we felt her energy drain to somewhere we could never reach, and hopefully to where dad had been always waiting. ☁️

Eagle and Birdie, black and gold, which the family used to call them being boba milk tea together. Eagle craved food, and somehow raced for XXXL after birth control. Birdie always seemed to mock Eagle with a slice of detest by leaving a place immediately after Eagle joined, but we knew they loved each other. Eagle was only 10 the year he passed away, which came to us as a surprise but soon found it altogether lamenting because both Eagle and Birdie passed away on 2017 summer. I still remember walking Eagle the day Birdie went through cremation. He ran all across the parking lot, barking all day. As if he could sense what was happening, Eagle was behaving oddly days later, staying away from human gatherings. It was only two months later Eagle left us too. Even then, Eagle left us with his prettiest smile. We sincerely hope Eagle’s and Birdie’s soul ended up with each other, peace.” —Joyce
